It's frustrating when you have no
internet, it's like, okay, let me wait. But things are crappier when you
possess slow internet as it tests your patience level, like Come on, load god
damn it, and then you just shut your system down. The Internet at home can
either save your day or ruin it.
But you can't just insinuate into the
router or modem and fix everything.
So let me
help you find peace.
1. Wi-Fi is the radio and electromagnetic waves, so all the appliances in your home and your Wi-Fi signal operate on the same frequency. However, equipment like microwaves, toasters, etc., leak radiation to cause electromagnetic or RF interference at 2.4GHz. To fix this, use a Wi-Fi that possesses a 5GHz frequency on an 802.11n network. Even better is keeping the router far away from the lights as it generates a magnetic field that will interact with radio frequencies. Know more about the router logins by 192.168.0.100 addresses. Did you know that dishwashers and laundry machines can affect your internet connection? Because water retains energy from wireless waves. Also, never place your router near the mirror as it bounces the signal leading to an unstable network. So what did you comprehend? Always place your routers in an open area and keep them updated.
2. Primarily use a speed test to ensure the tricks work, even if it's getting you some more Mbps. This method is common but works sometimes. All you have to do is turn off any apps or services running in the background, then open your device settings, double-click on the privacy option, then search for background apps, and you will display all your apps list, so now go ahead and turn off the ones you don't want running. Don't forget to turn off the peer-to-peer updates by selecting the Update and Security found on the settings page, click on the advanced options, and then delivery optimization. Once you're in, you'll find that the allowed downloads from other devices are enabled by default. Just toggle to switch off.
Disable all the widgets too. You can use an "ad blocker app" to load the videos without interruption. Clearing cache files of particular browsing apps and turning off the "auto sync" will diminish data consumption. You can also add Access Point Names in the Mobile networks by editing the access points, changing the APN protocols, saving the changes, and restarting for improvements.
3. We know that every internet provides
its DNS servers, but that would end up as an obnoxious one for sure, so if you
are thinking of escalating your internet speed with DNS, then you'll find
abundant public DNS servers out there. Now, let's get started
You right-click on the network adapter icon or the Wi-Fi icon in the taskbar and select the settings. As soon as it opens the settings, choose the "Change adapter options," this will open a control panel network connection. You will find your internet adapter, so go ahead and right-click on it and select the properties. Once opened, double click on the "Internet Protocol v4(TCP/IPv4)", ensure that you have selected the "obtain an IP address automatically" option. Down the box, you will find the option "Use the following DNS server addresses" type 1.1.1.1 in the Preferred DNS server field and 1.0.1.1 in the alternate DNS server; now click okay and close.
Still, want more speed? Type services in your search bar. Once it opens up, scroll down to find the "System Update" you will find the status as running, click on stop and then alter the start-up type from automatic to disable and click okay; remember to turn it back on after some time. If your internet connection is via Wi-Fi, then head to one of your desired browsers and type in the Wi-Fi router IP or modem IP, type in the username and password, which I hunch the admin for both the credentials. Once you're in, you will end up on the setup page mostly, scroll on the page until you find Static DNS and add 1.1.1.1, then 1.0.0.1 if you have an extra field, leave it blank. Now click Save and continue.
4. Another way around is to modify the wireless channel on your router, having multiple users on the same Wi-Fi channel that can curb down the internet, so firstly determine which channel has less congestion by installing the Wi-Fi analyzer. Now open the analyze tab, and you'll find a graph that will show the Wi-Fi power in your area. And if you want to change your channel, find the option in the Wi-Fi settings.
5. You can also escalate the speed by entering into the Device Manager, finding the network adapters, and expanding it by clicking on the arrow. Now choose the network card and go to the advanced tab. Under the property, select "large send-offload V to IPv4 or IPv6 and set the value to disabled, save the changes. You can enable it if you face any issues.
Altering the speed by bandwidth also
works efficiently. Open the run box and type gpedit.msc, open the
administrative templates, double click network, then QoS packet scheduler,
you'll find a limited reserved bandwidth double-click on it. Once the new
window pops up, click enabled and change the bandwidth limit to 0 and apply
them.
