Learn how to use File Doctor to fix company file problems in QuickBooks Desktop.
If you can’t open your business file, QuickBooks File Doctor can help. Use it when you see:
Error
-6150, -6000 -82, -6000 -305, -6000 -301, -6147 or -6130.
Missing or blank customer, supplier, or employee names.
Step 1: Download and install QuickBooks Tool Hub
QuickBooks Toolbar helps fix common mistakes. For best experience, we recommend using Tool Hub on Windows 10, 64-bit.
Do
QuickBooks.
Download
the latest version (1.6.0.3) of QuickBooks
Tool Hub. Save the file somewhere you can easily access it (such as
your Downloads folder or your Windows desktop). Note: If you have previously
installed Tool Hub, you can determine which version you have. Select the Home
tab. His version will be below.
Open
the downloaded file (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
Follow
the on-screen steps to upload and accept the terms and conditions.
When
the installation is complete, double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to
open the app center.
Step 2: Run Urgent Fix My File
Select
Company File Issues from the toolbar.
Select
Save My File Quickly.
Select
OK when you are finished and launch your QuickBooks.
Step 3: Run QuickBooks File Optimizer
Select
Company File Issues from the toolbar.
Select
the Run QuickBooks File Optimizer Tool. It may take up to a minute for the file
doctor to open.
Note:
If QuickBooks File Optimizer is not open, locate QuickBooks Desktop File
Document and open it manually.
Select
your company file from the menu in QuickBooks File Doctor. If you can’t find
your file, select Browse and search to find your file.
Browse
your file (middle selection only) and select Continue.
Enter
your QuickBooks administrator password and select Next.
The scan time depends on the size of your file and can take 10-15 minutes. The scan may report a failure even if it fixes your problem. When the scan is complete, open QuickBooks with your company file.
If QuickBooks File Optimizer does not fix your problem, you should fix the corrupted data in your QuickBooks Desktop work file.
